With multiple offers and tight inventory, are you getting out bid for those few Green Lake listings? Allow me to showcase a couple of my favorite neighborhoods still walking distance to the lake.
Maple Leaf
Looking at a map, Maple Leaf is located just east of Interstate 5 and just west of Lake City Way. It’s this cool pocket of totally affordable homes. Here, you’ll find brick tudors, bungalows, condos, ramblers and I’m starting to see some new construction homes too. What I hear from the locals there is Maple Leaf is turning over a new leaf (sorry for the pun) with a new generation moving in. It’s a place to call home if you like easy commuting, good schools, close amenities like Cloud City Coffee (awesome latte and remember I’m a coffee snob who drinks it all day) and the INFAMOUS Snappy Dragon. Did I mention Maple Leaf Resevoir Park - a 16 acre park! 16 acres, people!
West Green Lake…let’s call it Phinneywood
Phinney Ridge + Greenwood = Phinneywood. A newly adopted name for a community coined since 1899. Phinney Ridge or “The Ridge” is cool because it sits high on a ridge (much like Maple Leaf) so at certain points you can see Ballard on the West and Green Lake on the East. Here you will find plenty of yoga places, one of a kind small businesses, and both dogs and kids everywhere. But I’m going to talk about the community between West Green Lake and the top of Phinney Ridge. I’m actually not sure it has a name other than West Green Lake. I’ve had more clients looking there than anywhere else because they’re tired of getting outbid closer to the lake - especially Tangletown and the coveted East Green Lake Way. You can easily walk to Green Lake’s 3 mile paved loop by crossing Aurora’s easy pedestrian friendly sidewalk or walk up to Phinney and enjoy the enriched community there. There are some killer views too. There’s a fine line here, folks. Some say the street numbers between 80th and 85th are still considered Green Lake. I’ll just say…it depends. Keepin’ it simple here.
Oh, did I mention our glorious Woodland Park ZOO hidden behind the West side of Green Lake and Phinney Ridge. Yes, a zoo as in lions, tigers and bears. If you go, please go see the Penguin’s home. It’s award winning, ya know! During the summer, you must go see a concert at the Zoo Tunes too.
Pink dot is Phinney and you can see Green Lake is just to the right of it. I-5 is the dark line running North and South. The next body of water you see just south of Green Lake is Lake Union.
